![]() MeshLab is available for most platforms, including Linux, Mac OS X, Windows and, with reduced functionality, on Android and iOS and even as a pure client-side JavaScript application called MeshLabJS. MeshLab also includes an interactive direct paint-on-mesh system that allows users to interactively change the color of a mesh, to define selections and to directly smooth out noise and small features. It includes a tool for the registration of multiple range maps based on the iterative closest point algorithm. For the removal of noise, usually present in acquired surfaces, MeshLab supports various kinds of smoothing filters and tools for curvature analysis and visualization. Remeshing tools support high quality simplification based on quadric error measure, various kinds of subdivision surfaces, and two surface reconstruction algorithms from point clouds based on the ball-pivoting technique and on the Poisson surface reconstruction approach. The automatic mesh cleaning filters includes removal of duplicated, unreferenced vertices, non-manifold edges, vertices, and null faces. It is a general-purpose system aimed at the processing of the typical not-so-small unstructured 3D models that arise in the 3D scanning pipeline. MeshLab is developed by the ISTI - CNR research center initially MeshLab was created as a course assignment at the University of Pisa in late 2005. It is well known in the more technical fields of 3D development and data handling. MeshLab is free and open-source software, subject to the requirements of the GNU General Public License (GPL), version 2 or later, and is used as both a complete package and a library powering other software. MeshLab is a 3D mesh processing software system that is oriented to the management and processing of unstructured large meshes and provides a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering, and converting these kinds of meshes.

Gemini64, thank you for the short breakdown on exportable file formats and which program opens which. You may also find that the latest “unstable” version of FreeCAD actually runs better than the “stable” v. For best results, select your working plane before using the Dimension tool. It has better snapping (OSnap), it is a little buggy but still much more useful than the measurement tool. I find it’s easier to use the Dimension tool in the Draft workbench. When selecting a point, make sure you click and release the mouse button, then click again to select the next point. ![]() The current measurement tool has very limited use because all it can do is give a straight distance between 2 points. In freeCAD, I use the blue measuring tape icon, click a point, go the next point and then it deselects the first point once I select the second point, and on and on. I feel like an idiot admitting it, but I can’t figure out how to take a dimension in freeCAD so I can redraw the parts in Autocad. So you just need to export a FCStd file to STEP from FreeCAD, import it in Inventor and export it back to a file format that AutoCAD recognizes. Since 3D data in DWG and DXF is embedded in ACIS format, it cannot be read or written by FreeCAD, I think it can only import/export the mesh data that a 3D DWG file includes.īut you have access to Inventor, and unlike AutoCAD it does support STEP and IGES. It has limited DXF and DWG compatibility (the latter through the use of the Teigha Converter, a free commercial program that has to be installed separately as including it in FreeCAD would be a license violation). They prefer to restrain their users’ liberty by offering only undisclosed proprietary file formats like DWG, DXF or ACIS (*.sat).įreeCAD being open source, it cannot license existing commercial translator libraries. The problem is that AutoCAD cannot import either of those, through Autodesk’s own fault. iges) and STEP (.stp, *.step), the latter being an ISO standard. Offering 24 individual output channels, 3 Amps each, DIN rail housing and numeric LED channel display. This is indeed an interesting product at first sight. So while looking for other options I found few interesting DMX dimmers on AliExpress so I ordered a few to test. Also, when looking at the available datasheets, there is no mention about the frequency they use, or at least I couldn’t find that detail there. However, I couldn’t find any good dealership nearby, so I cannot provide any personal recommendations. I heard very good references to Eldoled LINEARdrives (100D), which seems to be very advanced, flicker-free and solid dimmers. Flicker-Free?įor home light appliances it is wise to consider flickering (or the PWM frequency) as another attribute to look at when comparing LED dimmers. ![]() Simply wave your outstretched hand in front of the light source and see the difference in stroboscopic effect when switching the light channels. It is interesting that in case of RGBW LED strips I found the flickering more noticeable on the color channels than on the WW, but this has either something to do with the response of phosphor coating that converts the blue emitted light to the white or warm white, human eye sensitivity to the given wavelengths, or combination of these factors. In my experience the frequency they have chosen is a bit too low, causing unwanted stroboscopic effect. Now back to the Loxone dimmers for a moment again. PWM flickering causing stroboscopic effect At ultra high frequencies the system would practically act as an transmitter creating electromagnetic interference all around the house. How about some upper frequency limitations? It is usually limited by the micro-controller maximum frequency, switching transistor energy efficiencies at higher speeds, and potential audible noise in the human sound spectrum. Some sources report that 300Hz is a frequency minimum for stationary and 1kHz for moving flicker free. It is more recognizable when subject or object is in motion, and in peripheral view where the sensitivity is improved. It depends entirely on the application and human eye natural sensitivity to flicker. While some do not notice flicker at 25Hz (cinema movie frame rate) or lower, others might be irritated by 100Hz refresh or higher. PWM flickeringĭifferent people do have different sensitivity to flickering. Although there were some rumours about the possibility to adjust the PWM frequency, in the end it seems it was not possible. According to the documentation, Loxone has set the PWM frequency to 123Hz. But the thing here is flickering, which is often being discussed in relation with PWM dimming in general. They have very small space requirements in the cabinet on the DIN rail, and offer four channels at 2.1 Amps each (50W per dimming channel). I still have 6 of these since the very beginning of my Loxone installation, and I never had any technical issue with these. Before we jump right into it, let me tell you few things about the former Loxone 24V DMX dimmers. Same happened to EnOcean products while ago.īut there might be other reasons why to look for other 24V dimmers as well. The focus has moved towards Tree and Air products, leaving open standards aside. Just a simple query to their web-shop reveals that there are no 24V DMX Dimmers any longer. Some of you might already noticed that Loxone silently discontinued few products and one of the areas impacted are DMX products. ![]() More for your money: 4 dimming channels for all illuminants and loads including 8 digital inputs for the appropriate button, motion detector, window contact. ![]() If the task requires an answer on a limited scale (e.g., a dichotomous choice or an answer on a percentage scale), the measure can be simplified by more or less directly comparing the responses given in foresight and those given in hindsight. The most common measures in the memory design compare pre- and post-outcome estimates with respect to their distance to the solution (in the hypothetical design, pre-outcome and post-outcome estimates are obtained between-subjects). ![]() Hindsight bias has been found with two-alternative-forced-choice tasks, both with respect to choices and to confidence in their correctness (“Which city has more inhabitants, London or Paris?”), with confidence in the correctness of assertions (“True or false: London has more inhabitants than Paris”), with numerical questions (“How many inhabitants does London have?”), with predicting outcomes of survey questions on a percentage scale (“How many German households currently have Internet access?”), with rating the likelihoods of possible developments of a given scenario (e.g., outcomes of international conflicts, patient histories, or consequences of business decisions) or with answers on closed rating scales using a few categories (e.g., rating one’s own or someone else’s performance, school grade, satisfaction or personality traits). The following list is probably not exhaustive, but it covers most of the types that have been used. It is also very robust across type of tasks. It has been found in general-knowledge questions, in political or business developments, in predictions of elections or sport results, in medical diagnoses or in personality assessment, to name only a few. The phenomenon is very robust across content domains. Generally, hindsight bias is said to exist whenever the estimates made in hindsight lie closer to the solution than those made in foresight, and when the measure that captures this difference is significantly larger than for a control group. In the control situation, other people are asked for their answers without giving them the solution beforehand. ![]() In the hypothetical design, people receive the solution right away and are then asked to provide the answer they would have given without this knowledge. In the control situation, the same items are given to other people without providing them with the solution before they recall their original answer. In the memory design, people first give an (unbiased) answer, then receive the solution and are finally asked to recall their earlier, original answer. Two different general experimental procedures are usually employed. Designs, Materials, and Measures of Hindsight Bias ![]() ![]() While making modding simpler for the "average user" may sound nice, and it is - completely, the part that has modders upset is the fact that this implementation means that files cannot be deleted. "The outcome is the replication of whole mod setup without much hassle and without entire packs of mods zipped up into an archive being redistributed," Nexus promises that this also means that authors will still receive donation points from the downloads themselves. So, Nexus Mods proposes members using what's called Vortex can curate their own mod list as part of their Collection by building a mod list on their setup and exporting a metafile to the site itself. How Collections works is rooted in a design that is meant to be easier for newcomers to understand, especially when looking at mod conflicts. The post continued, saying, "It is our conviction and vision that modding should be as easy as possible, so more people can enjoy this hobby that has brought us all together and that laid the foundation for the very existence of our site and community 20 years ago." This means that many people miss out on enriching their experience with fantastic mods, they don’t get to enjoy being part of our community, and they don’t get to become part of what we all love." However, we understand and know from decades of experience as well as user feedback, that it is this - at times grueling - process that deters many people from even trying to mod their games. Many of us have gone through this “baptism of fire” as we have grown up with modding being a hobby for the more tech-savvy. "As you all may know, depending on the games you are modding, it can at times be quite difficult to set up a large mod load order, find the right mods that work well together, look for patches, resolve conflicts, establish the right load order, test for any issues, and so on. The post then continues into a small novel filled with reasons why the company is pushing forward with the move despite immediate backlash from the community that keeps it alive. "We understand that not everyone in the mod author community shares our convictions and our vision, and that is why we are granting a one-month grace period in which mod authors can request to have all their files deleted for good." The Collections "means that mod files are no longer deleted, but rather archive - which makes them inaccessible unless directly requested e.g. In a substantial blog post over on the site, it was revealed that this new feature - a feature that has been in the works since 2019 - will be ready to fully deploy next month. To say that the community backlash was immediate would be a massive understatement. The new system, which is set to go live in August, makes it impossible for mod creators to delete the files they've chosen to share if those mods are curated as part of a Collection. ![]() The new Collections system is a way for members to garner a list of mods that they'd like, but there's a pretty heavy caveat that comes along that.
